Challenging our Engineering Prowess

Our customer required an aluminum low volume injection mold to be built and sampled in less than one week.  The normal lead time for such a project is 3-4 weeks, so it was critical that all phases of the tool build occur without delays.

Midwest Mold’s Solution

Midwest Mold’s low volume injection mold designer went to work developing a tool design that would be feasible to build within the four day time frame.  The mold block sizes were established and passed to the shop floor so the blocks could be machined while the tool was in design.  As mold features were designed, they were passed to the floor for machining and fabrication.  The shop floor was made aware of the criticality of the project and prepared their schedules to accommodate the mold features as they worked their way through the shop.

Midwest Mold’s Results

The tool was completed ahead of schedule and sampled one day early.  The project helped our customer to meet their deadline without compromising the quality of the end product.
